Downtown Revitalization Initiative
The City of Rensselaer, New York received $10 million in funding through the ninth round of the New York State Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI). The proposed Rensselaer DRI area encompasses a 0.19 square mile area, roughly about 122 acres, home to a range of businesses and properties for investment and redevelopment.

The City of Rensselaer is experiencing a period of exciting growth. Building on their momentum in housing, quality-of-life investments, and new local businesses, the City is launching a focused initiative to revitalize its downtown.
Leveraging their prime location as a regional transit hub, home to the Albany-Rensselaer Amtrak station and a portion the Empire State Trail, Rensselaer envisions a vibrant, connected waterfront destination. By enhancing commercial and retail opportunities and fostering cultural activity, they are working to transform downtown into a thriving hub for residents, visitors, and commuters alike. Join Rensselaer as they work to build a more accessible, dynamic future for the heart of the City.
